Slot Die Coating Systems

Slot die coating hot melt adhesives requires specialist systems to suit the specific requirements. Universal Converting Equipment is able to offer a range of slot die coating systems developed by Universal Adhesive Systems, ITW Dynatec and other manufacturers of slot dies. Examples of these technologies are:

 

Equity C – Die system developed by ITW Dynatec for continuous coating of hot melt adhesives. The unit is modular so it is easy to expand to suit the width required. Fast cut shim system allows rapid change of widths. The die gives excellent cross web adhesive distribution.

APEX™ - High speed slot die developed by ITW Dynatec. APEX™ produces high speed intermittent adhesive patterns with a max speed of 10,000 cycles per minute.

• Slot die design does not require micro adjustments to achieve the required adhesive lay down weights.

Wide Width Slot Dies – Manufacturers such as EDI produce wide width slot ides using “coat hanger” distribution of the hot melt adhesive to ensure even application of the adhesive across the full width. These dies are available in widths up to 2500mm. The dies normally have a flexible die lip which can either be manually or automatically adjusted to give fine control of the adhesive distribution..
